Artisan Stitch offers sewing classes for adults and children at all levels. Beginners sewing courses to Dressmaking and Pattern cutting. Also Creative textile art workshops in Free-Motion Embroidery, recycling projects, monoprinting and Mixed-media textile art.
Jen Skedd graduated in BA (Hons) Textile Design from Heriot-Watt University and her early successes included designs for Italian fashion house Valentino. She is a member of the Embroiderers Guild, where she is a committee member, and is also a member and Treasurer for Group Twelve Textile Artists. She exhibits her Textile Art and creative embroidery with both groups.
Her teaching ethos is that anyone can be creative. Her particular style of teaching consists on building blocks to enable anyone to learn expert sewing techniques quickly and easily. Workshops are designed with the beginners in mind so they can learn foundation without any previous art training.

Beginners Sewing Day
I have thoroughly enjoyed my day sewing with Jen, once I got my confidence with the machine it was very relaxing. I am most certainly going to do some of the other classes and would recommend anyone to go along and either brush up on your skills or start from scratch. I made a pin cushion and a tote bag today and I'm feeling well pleased with myself. Thank you Jen, you are an incredibly good teacher and I felt at ease as soon as I walked in the room.

Rags to Riches
I recently spent a wonderful day with Jen on her Rags to Ritches day. We were a small, intimate group which was relaxing and fun. Jen was generous with her tips and her praise. What a great way to spend a day in this fantastic setting of Cockenzie House.

Just back from spending a lovely day with Jen at Artisan Stitch. She is such a great teacher - so patient and explains everything so well. I absolutely love my wrap skirt and will wear it with pride! If you fancy learning how to sew or brush up on your skills then Jen is your woman!

Beginners Day
I had a fantastic day of sewing with Jen. I took part in Sewing Machine Confidence in the morning where I made a cool lavender bag and in the afternoon I took an envelope cushion cover class. I learnt so much in such a small space of time all thanks to Jen. She was so patience and enthusiastic. the class size is perfect, and Jen was able to spend time helping us all out individually. I have definitely caught the sewing bug, and I can't wait to come along to more of the Artisan Stitch classes in the future.

Sewing Course
I loved the Sewing course today. Jen is a brilliant tutor and the class was filled with loads of great information. The end result of the pillow was amazing. I hope to enroll in even more courses.
How to sew a zip
My friend and I attended the zips class yesterday and enjoyed it so much. Jen had prepared for the class in a lot of detail, with examples of each stage in the process. She took care to ensure that any fear of zips evaporated and at the same time, created a lovely relaxed atmosphere for us to learn in. A great experience.
