Sports Massage

Sports massage is the application of massage techniques to athletes, used to help them prepare for and recover from training and competing. It can be used to address injury problems, improve functional flexibility and range of motion and reduce recovery times between training.

Soft Tissue Therapy

Soft tissue therapy is the assessment, treatment and management of soft tissue injury, pain and dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system. It looks to address the whole body system, identifying and treating causes of pain and dysfunction and not just treating the symptoms. It can redress imbalances caused by everyday activities, such as sitting at a computer all day, allowing a greater freedom of movement and a consequent reduction in chronic pain. It can also be used to ease some of the symptoms of medical conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Diabetes and Cystic Fibrosis.

Pregnancy and Post Natal Massage

The body experiences massive change (physical, hormonal, emotional) throughout pregnancy and following birth. As your posture changes through pregnancy, your muscles and surrounding soft tissues can overwork and shorten or become stretched, causing pain and discomfort. Soft tissue therapy is a great way of identifying the causes of pain and discomfort and treating them effectively so that you can feel more comfortable in your own body. It also allows you all important rest and relaxation time and aids restful sleep.

About me

I'm a local therapist offering clinical Sports Massage and Soft Tissue Therapy in Edinburgh City centre and Portobello for the treatment of chronic pain and soft tissue injuries. I have a level 5 BTEC Diploma in Clinical Sports and Remedial Massage and have worked with private clinics and GB level sports teams to help athletes prepare for and recover from competing. I also work with non athletes to treat postural dysfunction and chronic pain issues.

Oncology Massage

People with cancer can benefit from massage at every stage of the disease, from diagnosis, through their treatment and in the time after their treatment has ended. Massage can be beneficial during this time to provide ease from the symptoms of the disease itself or from the side effects of the treatments. I am pleased to say that I can now offer massage to clients living with cancer.
